To us, sexy is a necessity.
You laugh, and it sounds cringe, but there really is no other adjective for this Substack and what it’s here to achieve. It's a vibe, a state of mind, an overall aura – and we know it when we see it (especially when it comes to hotels and Airbnbs).
Extracting the sexiness out of any getaway is ironically unsexy. It’s hours of researching, grapevine listening, and rainy-day list-making before you’ve even hit 'book'.
When it comes to finding accommodation that’s not like the others, you need a recommendation. Romance isn’t hard to find; you just need to know where to look. That is why we’re doing this.
We’ve been sharpening our focus in our professional lives in media and marketing for more than a decade. We both live in Sydney – John runs Boss Hunting, an Aussie men’s lifestyle publication, and Lara works in PR and marketing for clients across high-end travel, automotive, and fashion. In a world where everything is fake, forced, paid, or glossy (we know – because we're culprits ourselves), our radar for bullshit and ingenuine commentary is expertly dialled in.
We are the ultimate dreamers, and we use every trick in the book to unlock the best from our destinations. Like you, we spend our own money on the places we choose to stay (most of the time), and we value our time together like currency. We don't leave sexy to chance, and neither should you.
We’ve deleted many hours finding these stays. For us and for you. We’ve then travelled there ourselves. We’ve lit the fireplaces and run the bathtubs.
Prepare for hideaways on Australia’s east coast and frosty cabins in the Arctic Circle. Expect moods that’ll make every cell in your body vibrate, bathrooms that’ll have you ripping your clothes off just at the sight of them, and stays that are so lustful you’ll want to brag about them to everyone (but you can leave that last bit to us).
